Set on a stunningly beautiful site with a mountain view, this home was designed
to possess a resort character. Stepping though the front door, one passes a granite stairway and arrives in a two story family room. This room is anchored by turrets and a second story walk around, and a bridge opening to a second story rear balcony, facing the mountains glory. The porte-cochere entrance to the garage court features gate motors in its roof, accessed by the side turrets adjoining.

The rear of the home gains a more pedestrian scale, and features synthetic stone terraces accessed by a large redwood deck with a stone cooking island. There is a child's playhouse with full bathroom a refrigerator, and a room below the pool holding equipment for the pool and hot tub placed at the end of the pools terrace. One can dine in the homes refectory, look through the covered deck, and over the pool to mountains beyond.

Models were used extensively as communication devices between the designer, the client, and finally to the home's contractors. These models are an efficient and economical means of experimenting with aspects of proportion, light, and weight, prior to construction. They are a wonderful way of affirming in three dimensions the clients wishes.
